Over 3 months ago I wrote the first Spring Fair newsletter – asking for the school community to come together on one day and make it a great event. Well, that happened and then some.
What a great day – good weather, loads of people from within and without the school community, rides, food, entertainment, goodies and then more food.
While we were successful in raising money for the school from the day, the real outcome was fun and friendship and coming together as a community.
May I just thank each and every one of you for making the day so wonderful. I never tire of watching children have fun – children of all ages.
I worked very closely with a few folk who put in an extraordinary amount of time and effort. They are:
Jo, Christine, Allen, Winnie, Owen, Caroline, Gloria, Sri, Andrew, Holly, Matt, Virginia, Suzette and Harrison.
To all the stallholders and support people – WELL DONE. The stalls looked great, the food was terrific and the effort was immense. The Spring Fair does not happen without you so take a well-deserved bow for all the work you did in the weeks leading up to the day.
To the stall helpers – thank you for your time in making each and every stall successful.
Thanks to the people who used their photographic skills to capture the day – in particular Arthur and Geoff . It is fantastic to have such lovely moments captured.
A special thanks to Robyn for organising the “Back to Eastwood” display in the hall – it maintained strong interest throughout the day – maybe we can do it again in the future? It has given us more reason to start archiving our valuable collective history that is Eastwood Public School.
To our dignitaries, John Alexander our Federal representative and Victor Dominello our State representative; thank you for your time and interest in what the school community is doing. Both gentlemen commented on what a great feeling was in the air on Saturday.
I would like to give a warm thank you to Marist College Eastwood who assisted us in many ways in the lead up to the Spring Fair. It is marvellous to bring the whole community together and I hope we can help them and St. Kevin’s in the future as they helped us this year.
The teaching staff who came to the Spring Fair and gave time and energy should be applauded – it is selfless gestures like this that make the day what it is – a roaring success.
To the office staff – a HUGE thank you for helping us week in and week out – and being on hand on a weekend to make sure that it all ran smoothly – you are fantastic.
To the maintenance staff – what can I say – long hours and heavy work for days leading up to the Spring Fair with nothing but a smile and patience – you were the backbone of the team lads so THANK YOU.
And finally – to our Principal – Mr. Whitney; we all thank you for being a great school leader and top bloke. It should be noted that you give so many extra hours to the school and with such grace and good will – Thank you sir.
So…
As we all say our thanks for good weather, no accidents and a terrific day – take in this feeling of good will and smile – you did a great job.
Warmest regards.
Bernard
