KW have been reading the story My Sloppy Tiger Goes to School  by Joy Cowley

We constructed a recount of the story together:

.

My Sloppy Tiger Goes to School is about a tiger who gets into trouble at school. When Sloppy Tiger sees the computer he hits all the keys at once and all the paper comes flying out of the printer. Sloppy Tiger eats all the books so the teacher has to put them on a high shelf. He gets paint everywhere and he walks in the paint. The Sloppy Tiger sings so loudly the children say “tigers are not allowed to sing”. The playground is the best place for the Sloppy Tiger because it is a bigger space than the classroom and has lots of room for him to run around.
.

We had fun imagining what trouble the Sloppy Tiger would get into if he came to our school.

At school we often listen to and read books online. We love to visit YouTube for music, songs and lots of different stories. We talk about the pictures and any words that we don’t know so we can better understand what we read or sing. This week we are enjoying listening to some of the Barefoot Books. We like them so much we bought lots of them to read in our classroom. You can listen at home too!

We have been playing Beat the Box on our SmartBoard. There are nine letters and we all try to think of little words we can build using those letters. We have been getting better and this time we made 34 new words! The nine letters make one big mystery word and one day we’ll guess that too!

We read the big book Meanies by Joy Cowley. Meanies are a bit naughty, a bit dirty and sometimes a bit mean to each other but they are funny too. We will read the story to you!

Sometimes when lots of us are reading it can get a bit noisy. If we use the whisper phones we just have to whisper and we can still hear ourselves reading. We would have liked to record our reading so you could hear but we were too quiet!

KA loves doing group work in the classroom!  We get to do lots of fun activities, such as writing stories, reading, playing games and making things.  We can’t wait to see the new activities each time.

Now that we know our alphabet sounds we need to learn to put them together to read lots of new words. We matched pictures to words to create a snowman puzzle. We are becoming very good readers. You can hear Abby and Darren whizz through their words below.
