On Tuesday we all went down to the oval for our K-2 Sports Day. It was a bit chilly but we had lots of fun at all the different activities. Our mums and dads came to help too!

Joel explained to us how and why night and day and the seasons happen.
Joel’s picture shows how the Earth rotates around its ‘axis’ (imaginary line through the centre of Earth). “It spins once every 24 hours and that’s what makes night and day” His picture also shows how the Earth ‘orbits’ or travels around the sun and how its ‘axis’ is tilted. “This makes the seasons – Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn”.
Joel told KD “I want to be a spaceman when I grow up”. We think that there’s a good chance of that Joel!
We have been having lots of difficulties with our computers at school. They have been unhelpful for nearly two weeks and fixing them is proving to be tricky!!! We cannot go to the computer lab, we can’t play and practise in class, no Smartboard lessons and we can’t check and read our blog. So you might like to practise at home. If you haven’t visited Fun 4 the Brain here are some quick links for you, just click on the picture or go to the blogroll for some other activities.
Kindergarten went to a Musica Viva show to see The Song Company perform. They are an acappella group who can make music using only their voices. We learnt that some voices sing high notes and some sing low notes. We listened well to hear changes of pitch and to recognise ostinati (repeated patterns).Sometimes we helped them sing too. Would you like to listen to them? Click on the link below.

KW is learning all about the calendar. Each day we record the date, keep a tally of the days as they pass, check the weather, learn the days of the week and the months of the year. We sing songs to have fun and to help us remember our calendar facts. You can listen to us sing too!
KD made a pictograph which showed the ages of all the children in our class. We learnt that pictographs can tell us all sorts of interesting information. We also made pictographs about animals. Have a look at us making our graphs and some of the things we learnt from them!
Children in KD have been bringing some interesting items to show for news.
Sowon made this colourful “Fireworks” picture using crayons and paint. She also sculpted a girl from clay…
Joshua made an Origami dog and a house made from triangles and squares….
and Joel made a helicopter using Lego.
