Learning to Ride

Students in Years 5 and 6 are heading to the Community and Road Education Scheme (C.A.R.E.S) in a couple of weeks. However a few students are not confident on a bicycle. These students have been learning with their teacher, how to ride a bike. Practice has been limited to lunchtime around the playground. However, I’m sure they’ll be ready for C.A.R.E.S!

Sydney Writers’ Festival

On Tuesday, Year 6 went to the Sydney Writers’ Festival in Parramatta to be inspired by the authors Morris Gleitzman, Deborah Abela, Garth Nix, Richard Newsome and Sean Williams.

We were able to look at some of their new books that had just been released in the last few days but sadly we were only allowed to look. The authors entertained us by describing their experiences and telling us about their new books including Too Small to Fail and Trouble Twisters. The most thrilling and humorous thing was a picture of the famous stars of Harry Potter being friends with Voldermort. Their faces were inserted on some pictures where they were holding hands and being friendly with each other.

It was a great day and we came back to school inspired to read and write more.

Korean flowers

Over the past few weeks year 6 have been making origami lotus flowers with Ms. Yeom for our grades’ musical, The Real Story of Red Riding Hood. Year 6 will be performing in about 3 month’s time for all of the school to see. We have put a lot of time and preparation into this musical, so we hope you come and enjoy it.
