5th September 2017

From the PrincipalGeneral NewsSportCanteenP&CMusicCommunity

Congratulations to Sienna B, James C and Sophie Z. for their results at the Ryde Zone PSSA Athletics Carnival. They will now represent the school and the Zone at the Sydney North Athletics on the 11th September.

Justine Z. is performing at the Sydney Opera House twice this week, at the Festival of Instrumental Music and the Arts Alive Concert. Justine is one of our outstanding musicians. Her extraordinary talents have also been recognised with an invitation to perform at the NSW Primary Principals Association State Conference. We wish Justine well for her performances.

I would like to thank our P&C Social Committee for their support of school events. Their time to organise morning and afternoon tea for visiting parents is greatly appreciated. So to is the time parents from the Uniform Shop devote to supporting families and students, particularly parents of new Kindergarten students for 2018.

Mini Fete – 21st September 2017
Mini Fete is an event that occurs at the school every year. The Year 6’s create their own stalls, and at recess and lunch other people can go to their stalls to play games or buy things. The profit the stalls make goes to the Year 6 Farewell. This year we have a number of exciting stalls, and all the prizes are hand made by the Year 6’s.

The kids have an hour to go round and have fun at all the stalls. The mini fete is part of Year 6’s science projects. They have to find out how to attract the kids to their stalls and create posters and exciting events.

Tell Them from Me: Parent Survey
You’re invited to participate in the Tell Them from Me (TTFM) Parent Survey. The survey is conducted by the NSW Department of Education and focuses on student engagement, wellbeing and effective teaching practices. It is an opportunity for the community to have a voice in school decisions as the information collected will be used to guide future planning to ensure we meet the needs of all students and community expectations.

The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and is done online. It is anonymous, voluntary and available in English and Chinese. You can access the survey anytime between 5th September and 13th October 2017. Follow the link:  https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/eps2017
More information on the TTFM survey can be found on http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/
Please contact Mrs. Cuasay if you have further questions or concern.

Woolworths Earn and Learn
The Woolworths Earn and Learn program is ending on the 19th September. Get your child(ren) to give their sticker sheets to their class teachers or just put the stickers in the box outside 5/6S (homebase 1) in Q block, Mrs Sparrow’s classroom, as soon as possible.
Our points will be helping out our local community groups.

So far we have collected 9960 stickers.

Sport and Specialty Group Photos
Sport and specialty group photos are planned for next week, on Thursday 14th September 2017. Students should wear their school uniform to school. Some will need to change for their photographs. Students need to bring the change of uniform required for their group photo to change into on the day. Ensure that your child’s uniform is labelled correctly so that lost items can easily be returned.
Please see the attached information for the dress code for each group photo.
Students will have the opportunity to order their photos after the photography day. The company will be providing proofs of the sport and specialty group photos along with order envelopes about two weeks after the photos have been taken. There will be another notice in the newsletter at that time to inform you about how to order copies of the photos.

Thank you,
Mrs K Webb
